We now have solar powered light in our storage container!

Image
Andy and Tony worked in the rain to finish wiring up the LED light and solar PV panel this morning at 11am. A 10A fuse was connected to the solar panel and put in a grey box inside the container and a 4 m cable to a second light switch added. There is now solar powered light! :) So we will trial this for a while before adding improvements.

Two steps forward (and one back!) at the PV project today

Image
Things went well today at 11:30 am in wiring up the various parts of the PV system and positioning the LED light. Unfortunately, Tony did a wiring mis-step and the 12v LiIon battery is now at 3v and so cannot power the charge controller. Ooops! He will swap this battery out and finish the wiring tomorrow at 11 am with Andy :) They will also: 1) hammer in cable clips to hold the wiring outside to the vertical piece of wood 2) install outside a grey junction box holding a 10 amp fuse. 3) Inside replace the 12v LiIon battery (hopefully the charge controller still works) 4) Add a 2nd light switch near the door. 5) Use sticky square cable holders to secure cables to the container 6) Screw strain relief clamps to the wires going to the charge controller. 7) Add a laminated system diagram card :) 8) Add a second grey junction box near the air vent. This should then leave us with a fully functioning off-grid LED light :)

Solar PV powered LED lighting for the 40' Container

Image
Well the dream team of Andy and Tony started to install the PV solar lighting system in the 40' container this morning. Tony had been testing it in his shed for the last couple of weeks and today they perservered at getting the cables through the container. A little bit of PV wiring and extra fuses to be added on Thurs 29/6 at 11 am the the installation will be complete and the project will be ready for commissioning!

Weeding of the four carpet rose beds opposite The Aviation Museum

Image
Great work was done by Donna, Eileen, Theresa, Andy and Tony at 7 pm when in the cool of our very hot Summer evenings they spent two hours weeding the four beds on the opposite side of the road to the Aviation Museum. (See red dot on the active map at https://sites.google.com/view/shannontowntidytowns/ for a rough position) Here's the position of two of them using Maps.Me also there parking just south of this long grass area. As shown here on Google Maps.  Thanks to Andy for strimming round the carpet rose beds earlier today and to Donna, Andy, Eileen, Tony and myself for getting them weeded this evening. They're ready for any judgement now 👏👏. Thanks guys it was lovely being out together.
