Construction of PV System for 40' Shipping Container

Shannon Tidy Towns now has a PV powered LED light and WiFi in the 40' Drumgeely container

This is a temporary replacement to the 100W system we had in place on top of the 40' container last year in the Olympic Soccer Grounds. (We expect to install a more substantial PV system this Summer)

It has two 100W flexible solar panels secured to the roof with battens.

These feed through an isolation switch before coming inside the container to the charge controller. This is an Epever LS2024B model that uses PWM to keep a 12V car battery charged up.

The output from the battery goes through the LS2024B to a LED light via a switch at the door. (This ensures the LED light doesn't completely drain the car battery)

To provide an easily accessible live graph (see the bottom of this page) below Tony Walsh (kilnageer@gmail.com) made a NodeMCU based monitor to plug into the LS2024B and provide data to a Blynk cloud display.

WiFi internet access was provide by have an LTE Router (with an external 4G antenna) powered by the battery (via the LS2024B).

Finally, the Blynk cloud data was then copied and published to a MongoDB chart which provides the embedded HTML graph below :)
